Taylor Hicks told TMZ that his life flashed before his eyes when his private plane blew one of its engines midair. The American Idol 5 winner believes he owes his life to the skills of his quick thinking pilot.
The singer was flying from Tennessee to Alabama Wednesday afternoon when one of the engines exploded, dousing the plane with oil. The pilot managed to land at a rural airport in Jasper, Alabama. Taylor, the pilot of the private plane and 2 other passengers are all fine, but pretty shaken.
Taylor Hicks describes the frightening experience in the video below. “The air traffic controll(ers) asked the pilot how many souls he had on board,” Taylor added, “…I realized very quickly that this was very serious.”
