The best thing about the FOX hit show, Empire is Taraji P. Henson, as the irrepressible Cookie Lyon. The actress, up for an Emmy for her portrayal of the fierce family matriarch, visited the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to dish about the upcoming new season, and more.
The two also faced off in a game that’s kinda like Family Feud, only faster. Fast Family Feud, if you will. The game was so action packed, Taraji couldn’t stop herself from hitting that buzzer–even when she didn’t really know the answer! I mean…how could she miss the Top 2 obvious answers for “Name a Man Famous for his Beard.” She namechecked a Houston basketball player, as if that was the obvious answer. HELLO SANTA AND ABE. When Harry Potter character “Dumbledore” was revealed as the #3 answer, Taraji was all “DUMBLEDORE? WHO IS THAT?”
Funniest moment: Taraji shouts “THE DRUGS” for “Name something in your house you hide when guests come over.” And as it turned out…she won a point! “I didn’t say that…that’s Cookie,” Taraji exclaimed. But so did many members of the audience–Drugs/alcohol was the #2 answer in the audience survey. Heh.
The last question, “Complete this Phrase ____ Balls” had the obvious answer, which Jimmy got correct. Although Taraji’s “Big Balls” seemed like a reasonable guess!
Taraji and her Empire co-star, Terrence Howard will be featured on Thursday’s Lip Sync Battle season finale. The actress will take on Madonna’s “Material Girl” in a blond wig and leopard print dress. Sounds epic.
