What a thrill for Scotty McCreery! He sang the National Anthem tonight at the 1st game of the World Series in St. Louis as the Cardinals faced off against the Texas Rangers.

It was a bit touch and go for a moment, as Scotty began the Anthem, without a working mic! Oh noes. Poor Scotty. He was able to start over, however, and not missing a beat, performed a twangy, heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem.

The official 1st week number’s for Scotty McCreery’s album, Clear as Day are in. Not only did the Idol winner’s debut hit #1 and sell 197k, but he broke records!

Update: Video from today’s celebration and the National Anthem before the football game

Scotty McCreery celebrated his 18th birthday and the release of his debut CD with a huge bash in front of a hometown crowd in Raleigh North Carolina this morning.

Scotty was presented with a gold record for his coronation single, “I Love You This Big” and then the crowd of 20, 000 sang happy birthday. The Idol winner was also presented with a cake. Reportedly, Scotty got a little teary-eyed! Aw. Scotty thanked his fans and took questions from the audience.

Later, Scotty sang the National Anthem before the at the Central Michigan at NC State football game at Carter-Finley Stadium. Scotty has been a life long Wolfpack fan!

Scotty McCreery headed to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday to promote his debut album, Clear as Day which is predicted to bow at #1 on the Billboard 200 next week.

Scotty performed his new single, the ballad, “The Trouble with Girls”.

Scotty McCreery’s album, Clear as Day came out today and the verdict on the Season 10 winner’s debut is mixed. Slapped together in a few short months, post-Idol debuts nearly always contain at least some generic elements. I always give that first effort a pass, It’s tough to pin down an artist’s individuality on such a slap-dash production schedule. So, I’m keeping those thoughts in mind as I read these reviews. The very last item is a video of Scotty describing Clear as Day track by track for Billboard.
