Survivor Season 48 Week 3 Recap and Live Blog

The episode begins with the Cila tribe returning to camp after tribal council. Savannah was voted out. Rick and Christian are giddy over secretly planting a fake hidden immunity idol at tribal council. They compare it to pulling off a heist.

The next morning, the Cila tribe gets a cryptic tree mail message. They wonder if it’s a tribe swap or a reward challenge coming up. Rick and Christian also discuss what to do about the Boomerang Idol Christian gave to Aubry. They plan to pretend that Rick found the idol instead of Christian. They later tell Cirie about the hidden immunity idol. Christian acts like he’s finding out this information for the first time too. Cirie is happy to hear they trust her enough to share this information. They wanted to tell Emily too, but they didn’t get the chance.

Next the tribe members greet Jeff. He asks the tribe members to snap their fingers while he does a cringeworthy rap informing the tribe members to drop their buffs. They will be switching tribes. While they react to this news, Christian whispers to Emily that Aubry has a hidden immunity idol. In her confessional, Emily is confused why she wasn’t given this information earlier. She’s now questioning if she can trust her alliance members. Afterwards, the tribes draw buffs as they are randomly divided into new tribes.

New Cila – Charlie, Dee, Rizo, Kamilla, Jonathan, Cirie, and Rick
New Kalo – Aubry, Joe, Genevieve, Coach, Chrissy, Colby, and Tiffany
New Vatu – Christian, Mike, Emily, Ozzy, Stephenie, Q, and Angelina

There is no reward challenge. Instead, they will return to camp and get to know their new tribe members.

The Kalo tribe members get acquainted. Joe is happy with his new tribe. He says they have “muscle, brain, and everything in between.” Colby thinks Joe is someone that will be easy to get along with. Colby and Coach were rivals in Heroes vs. Villains, but he has no problem with him. The three of them agree to work together. Coach likes Joe’s honor and integrity approach to the game.

Later, Coach tells Chrissy to settle down. He tells her tribe members on their original tribe were getting annoyed with her since she talks too much. She would’ve been voted out if their original tribe went to tribal council. In her confessional, Chrissy gets emotional. Chrissy opens up to Aubry and Genevieve. She struggles with people not liking her.

Meanwhile on the Cila tribe, Kamilla is happy being there. Cirie, however, says all her hard work is no good now. It’s just Cirie and Rick as the original Cila tribe members. RIzo tells Cirie he met her when he was 18 years old at a casting call. Meanwhile, Dee and Jonathan recognize how big of a threat Cirie is. Dee admits she likes Cirie, but she knows they need to get her out when the opportunity presents itself.

Mike wonders if he’s the odd man out in Vatu. None of his original tribe members are here, but he did play David vs. Goliath with Christian and Angelina. He also knows Ozzy outside the game. So, he thinks he might be okay. Q doesn’t have a vote, so he wants to solidify numbers. He reunites with Ozzy after spending time on Exile Island with him. He also tells Ozzy that Ozzy’s hidden immunity idol came from Genevieve. Q also wants to form an alliance with Emily too. Emily decides to tell Ozzy and Q that Christian told her that Aubry has a hidden immunity idol. Emily says she’s playing her own game, not Christian’s game. She doesn’t trust Christian anymore. Q talks to Stephenie later and catches her up. He says they can work with Ozzy and Emily and target the David vs. Goliath trio of Mike, Angelina, and Christian.

Emily says she’s okay with working with Q and Stephenie, but she feels like Q and Stephenie are too much in control. She wonders if they genuinely want to work with her or they just want to use her as a number. Later, Emily talks to Angelina. She likes Angelina, so Emily tells Angelina everything Q and Stephenie told her. They were planning to vote Angelina out next, and Angelina is stunned to learn this. Emily is having a change of heart, so now she wants to flip and work with the David vs. Goliath trio. Emily gives Angelina a hug. Afterwards, Emily confesses to Christian that she told people about Aubry’s idol. Christian is unhappy, but he needs her vote. He hopes he, Emily, Angelina, and Mike can be a group that will vote together at the next vote.

Genevieve is working on her social game. She forms bonds with Chrissy, Joe, and Coach. Genevieve is still concerned about Aubry. She tells everyone how Aubry acted on their original tribe and she’s someone they need to watch out for. Joe, Chrissy, and Coach all agree to vote for Aubry if they go to tribal council. Genevieve gives a heads up to Tiffany too. Tiffany, however, likes Aubry. She later tells Aubry that Genevieve told her not to trust Aubry. Aubry says this is a wake up call. She says she will be loyal to Tiffany.

Back at the Cila tribe, Rizo says he’s a free agent, and he wants to work with Charlie. He tells him about the Boomerang Idol. Charlie is glad to hear this information. However, he doesn’t trust Rizo. This is because of something Rizo said about Survivor 49. Rizo revealed he voted for Savannah to win instead of Sophi, despite Sophi being his best friend on the island. She put his feelings aside to vote for the best player. Charlie has baggage from his original season. His closest ally Maria didn’t vote for him, and her vote cost him the win. Charlie wants Rizo gone and nowhere near a jury.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. Each tribe members will have a caller to lead blindfolded tribe members through a series of obstacles to collect rings and then solve a puzzle. The winning tribes will win a chicken reward too. The challenge begins. Chrissy, Christian, and Kamilla are the callers for their tribes. Cila takes the lead, and they reach the puzzle-making portion of the challenge first. Vatu and Kalo reach the puzzle at the same time while Cila solve the puzzle first. Cila wins immunity! Kalo gets closer to solving the puzzle while Vatu struggles to get started. Kalo solves the puzzle. Kalo wins immunity! Vatu will go to tribal council tonight.

Christian apologizes for letting his tribe down at the challenge. Later, Mike reveals to Stephenie that he will probably vote for her. He doesn’t want to vote for his fellow David vs. Goliath castaways. They start scrambling for votes, and Stephenie and Q try to get the numbers to vote out Angelina. Meanwhile, Mike reveals to Emily that he doesn’t actually want to vote out Stephenie. He wants to vote out Q instead. He calls Q a dominant figure. Mike, Angelina, and Christian confirm plans to vote for Q tonight. Angelina says she only trusts Mike. She calls him one of her best friends. She even made a cameo on The White Lotus.

Emily talks to Ozzy about the vote tonight. Ozzy tells her that it makes sense to target Angelina to break up the David vs. Goliath trio. Emily feels like she’s in a rock and a hard place. She wants to work with Ozzy, but she doesn’t want to irritate Christian. She doesn’t know what to do. Meanwhile, Q and Mike talk. Mike lies and says he wants to vote for Stephenie. Q doesn’t want Stephenie to get any votes, so he tells Mike to vote for him. Q thinks this would be a throwaway vote, but he’s actually the target. Q lies to Mike about having an extra vote too.

Mike talks to Emily next, and he shares everything Q told him. Emily calls Q a chaotic player, and she is ready to vote him out. She wants to get Ozzy on board, so she asks him if they should vote out Q tonight and then Angelina at the next vote. Ozzy is open to the idea, but he’d rather vote for Angelina first. Q is a strong tribe member for challenges, and the David vs. Goliath trio needs to be broken up. In her confessional, Emily notes she’s the swing vote tonight. She doesn’t know what she’s going to do.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff first asks about the uncertainty of what the fans voted for as far as the twists that will be added to the game. Stephenie says no one likes uncertainty. She says the game gets harder every time she plays. Angelina says she’s a different person now compared to how she was the first time she played. Mike admits he asked himself “Why am I back here?” He says the highs are part of the lows. Jeff notes how Ozzy’s been to every tribal council. Ozzy hopes they will be on to greener pastures after tonight. Q says tonight is a test for this group to not end up here tomorrow. Emily says the impact you have on people’s feelings matters. She adds they all signed up to play a game where they will be lied to and backstabbed. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote. We see Stephenie vote for Angelina, Q unable to vote, and Mike vote for Q.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

Angelina

Q is the fourth person voted out of Survivor 50. Q asks Ozzy if this was his move before getting his torch snuffed. Stephenie is surprised, and she says “Love you, Q” before he walks away.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Survivor. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
