Survivor 37 David vs Goliath Week 12 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: David vs. Goliath airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins with the castaways giving Christian props for effectively playing his hidden immunity idol. However, Christian is aware that he’s still a target since he received five votes. Nick is disappointed Christian survived the vote, but he wants to make sure Christian doesn’t find another idol. He chooses to fashion a fake idol and uses the note from his other idol to make it more believable. He stages an idol find in front of Christian, Mike, and Angelina. Everyone but Davie believes that Nick did find an idol, especially since Davie is aware Nick already found an idol. As a result, Davie chooses to keep looking for the hidden immunity idol. He’s unable to find it, so he approaches Christian while away from everyone else. He tells Christian that Nick has two hidden immunity idols and will likely target them. Christian is happy to hear that Nick can be a target instead of himself.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be attached to a rope while going through a series of obstacles. Afterwards, they will toss sandbags at a stack of blocks. The first person to finish the challenge will win reward, which is an afternoon at a resort with food. The challenge begins, and Davie is the first person to throw sandbags. Eventually, everyone else catches up, but it becomes a showdown between Davie and Nick. Each only has one block left, but Davie manages to knock his last block off his table first. Davie wins reward! He’s allowed to choose two people to come along with him. He first picks Nick, but Angelina pleads her case before he chooses his second person. She reminds him that both she and Nick picked him for the family reward last time. In addition, she gave up a chance at immunity in order for the tribe to be given more rice last time as well. However, Davie picks Kara to join Nick and himself on the reward. In her confessional, Angelina says that Davie has shown to be playing all sides and keeping his options open. She says that he may have made a million dollar mistake.

After the reward challenge, Angelina vents her frustration about Davie’s decision to take Kara on the reward to Alison, Christian, and Mike. She’s very angry, so she cooks a very big pot of rice so she, Alison, Christian, and Mike will have a larger portion than usual. She calls it “revenge rice.” Meanwhile, Davie, Kara, and Nick are enjoying their reward. When Nick wanders off, Davie and Kara begin to plot Nick’s demise. Davie says that if Nick doesn’t win immunity, then they will have to vote him out. In her confessional, Kara admits she’s thrilled about this plan since she wants Nick out too. When Davie, Kara, and Mike return to camp after the reward, Kara tells Alison that they should vote Nick out. She tells her that Angelina and Mike can’t know about this plan since they could warn Nick. However, later in the day, Alison reveals the Nick blindside plan to Mike. She explains in her confessional that she wants to be honest with Mike; she really does want to work as a duo with him. In his confessional, Mike admits he’s torn on how to vote since he’s close to Nick. He says he’ll likely surprise himself with whatever choice he makes.

The next morning, Davie goes searching for the hidden immunity idol. He finds blue string and uncovers a clue to an advantage. When it starts raining and everyone is huddled under the shelter, Davie goes to the spot where the merge feast was located as the clue instructs. He is faced with four urns and a hidden immunity idol. The hidden immunity idol is only good for the upcoming tribal council. However, if he opens the correct urn, then he can extend the idol’s life by another tribal council. He can do this up to two times. However, if he makes the wrong choice, then he won’t be able to vote. Davie decides it’s too risky to wager his vote, so he doesn’t open any of the urns.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s another endurance competition. This time, the castaways must stand on a narrow perch while balancing a ball on a disc in their hand. As the challenge progresses, they will have to add additional balls to their discs. The last one standing will win immunity. The challenge begins, and everyone survives the first round that only requires one ball on a disc. Round 2 begins with everyone having two balls, and Kara and Angelina are the first two to drop. Both of Davie’s balls drop at the same time, and he’s the third one eliminated from the challenge. He’s followed by Christian, leaving only Alison, Mike, and Nick in the competition. Nick drops his balls next, so it’s now down between Alison and Mike. They survive Round 2 and move on to the final round. They both have three balls on their discs now. Mike’s balls start to wobble on his disc, but Alison drops a ball. Mike wins immunity!

The castaways return to camp after the immunity challenge. Nick admits that he now wants Alison to be voted out instead of Christian since Alison almost won immunity. He’s also worried about the Goliaths outnumbering the Davids. Unbeknownst to Nick, there is already a plan to vote him out tonight, and Kara is eager for that blindside. However, Mike wants Christian to be voted out tonight instead, and he tries to gather the numbers to get Christian eliminated. Meanwhile, Nick confesses to Davie that the idol he found in front of everyone else was fake. As a result, Davie believes he can trust Nick now. He admits in his confessional that he no longer wants to vote out Nick tonight, so he’s going to go along with Nick’s plan to vote out Alison. However, Mike later approaches Nick, and Mike reveals to Nick that Davie wants to vote him out tonight. Nick now wants to vote out Davie tonight, but Nick tells him that they should vote out Christian tonight and then Davie afterwards.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff asks if there’s a change of pace to the game now that there’s only seven people remaining, and Nick thinks everyone is still playing hard to win. Angelina says it’s a weird game since it’s an individual game, but you can’t get to the end without leaning on others. Davie agrees, and he adds that they all have to debate whom they can or cannot trust. Christian says he has to consider which people would work with him, but it’s tough since everyone has written his name down. Alison says that this new era of Survivor is more fluid instead of everyone staying loyal to their original group. Nick says that there is a high level of gameplay, and everybody is playing at the same level. Alison says once they survive some tribal councils with their names written down, then they will continue to be seen as a threat. Christian says that he’s had enough of people voting for him, and he’s eager to work with people instead. Mike says they all have to go with what they think is true. Afterwards, it’s time to vote.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Davie plays his hidden immunity idol for himself. Afterwards, Nick plays his fake idol to see everyone’s reaction. He admits his idol was fake before pulling out his real idol. Angelina tells him that she doesn’t think he needs to play it, but Nick continues to look at everyone’s faces. Nick decides to play his real idol for himself.
