Songland Spoilers: Martina McBride Episode 4 – Meet the Songwriters!

Songland season 2 continues with guest artist country music superstar Martina McBride. Helping the popular singer  find the next great song among four undiscovered songwriters will be returning cast members including Ryan Tedder, Shane McAnally and Ester Dean. In the episode, the team will help the fledgeling tunesmiths shape and produce their songs for a final performance in front of the artist, who will choose the winning song to record.

Upcoming artists featured in season 2 include: Boyz II MenFlorida Georgia Line, Julia Michaels, Ben Platt, Bebe Rexha and Usher.

  • CKAY – A winner of  Showtime at the Apollo,  singer/songwriter, New York City based singer-songwriter got her start in R&B. Her more recent work “combines a vocal quality comparable to Adele, with the quirky musical nature of Regina Spektor.” She released her debut single “Feel Good” in 2018. Instagram Facebook
  • H A L I E – Thayer, Missouri native currently lives in Nashville and has been writing songs since 12 years of age. According to this piece, she has “songwriting in her blood as her great great great grandpa’s cousin was Jimmie Rodgers.” Additionally, her brother, Michael Tyler, is also a songwriter, penning tunes for  Jason Aldean, Lo Cash, and Dierks Bentley (Somewhere on the Beach).   • WOLVES – This Los Angeles duo consist of Marc Avery and Sean Carney. They call their pop alternative music “Surf Trap” whatever that means! They perform in Los Angeles venues such as the Troubadour and The Hotel Cafe. Their music has gotten some radio play. Read an interview from 2018 when “Animal” was released. Youtube Facebook
  • Jeffrey James – Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeffrey is a pop-R&B singer and songwriter who worked with a variety of artists crossing multiple musical genres. Originally from Brownsburg, Indiana, his great-uncle wrote the renowned Hal Leonard Guitar Method book. Jeffrey wrote and recorded his latest EP London in the British city. Additionally, James placed music in TV shows such as Amazon Prime’s Jack Ryan, CBS’s The Red Line and Criminal Minds, CW’s All American, and Showtime’s Shameless.
