Headlines: Simon Lythgoe’s Singing/Dating Show, Adam Lambert Reveals Boyfriend

John Legend, Simon Lythgoe to Produce American Version of Unscripted Format ‘Love at First Song’ – John Legend and “American Idol” producer Simon Lythgoe are among those teaming up to develop “Love at First Song,” a music competition-dating show hybrid, Variety has learned. “Love at First Song” pairs two singers together and has them “virtually” rehearse a romantic duet, before revealing themselves and their potential chemistry during a live performance. The couples then live together, practice together, perform and compete together, but may swap partners in every episode — for love or music. “Having worked on some of the biggest reality singing competitions in the world like ‘American Idol’ and pop stars, this is the first format I’ve seen in a decade that’s a unique hybrid having all the right ingredients to be a huge international success,” said Lythgoe. “And more importantly, ‘Love at First Song’ has the potential to launch the next great duo like Tim & Faith, Sonny & Cher or Jay Z & Beyoncé.” – Read more at Variety

Scotty McCreery on Why Going No. 1 With ‘This Is It’ Validated His Career: ‘We’re Really Here to Stay’ – How did the two-week No. 1 with “This Is It” feel different than topping Country Airplay with “Five More Minutes” last year? “Five More Minutes” was just huge because I had waited seven years for that to happen and worked so hard. This one was more validating for me. To have two [No. 1s] feels like we’re really here to stay, the songs are really resonating with folks, and radio’s really accepting me for who I am and my music for what it is. Especially for it to be two weeks; that’s huge. – Read more at Billboard

‘American Idol’ alum David Archuleta embarks on US tour – At just 16-years-old, David Archuleta made a name for himself as runner-up on season seven of “American Idol.” As an 11-year-old, Archuleta was introduced to “Idol” in its first season and was hooked. “I took it in like a sponge. As a fan, I wondered what it would be like to audition. I went and auditioned out of curiosity, I didn’t go out of a yearning to win ‘American Idol’ because I don’t really like attention. I felt like there was something I needed to learn, [but] I got a lot more than I planned,” he said. – Read more at UML Connector

Haley Reinhart Takes Us On her ‘Lo-Fi Soul’ Tour Of L.A. For Superb New Album – For a transplanted Chicagoan Haley Reinhart has made a sound and life that very much reflects the L.A. music scene. I recently saw Reinhart, who co-produced her stunning new album, Lo-Fi Soul, play as a special guest with the Doors’ Robby Krieger at iconic Santa Monica recording studio the Village. “The stuff with Krieger is crazy because he’ll hit me up the night before,” she says. “They came to me and asked me to be a part of their huge benefit for St. Jude’s. They do this super rock star mash up of a show every year in honor of these kids with cancer, raise a ton of money. It’s not only for a beautiful cause, but I’m working with these rock star legends.” – Read more at Forbes

Kree Harrison on Her New Single ‘I Love the Lie’ and Upcoming 2019 Record – Celeb Secrets Country: Your new single ‘I Love the Lie’ was just released this month. Though it was penned by Chris Stapleton, can you tell us how you personally relate to it and why the song means so much to you? Kree Harrison: “It was written by Stapleton and his wife who I’ve been a fan of for a long time. Honestly it kind of came out of nowhere last minute. A good friend, Alison, pitched it to us and it was kind of a no brainier to me. I just love the song. This record is still soulful and bluesy like my last one but it’s got more of a 90’s country influence to it and I think the song, that one especially, is perfect for a single. I love it and I’m very proud of it. We shot the video soon after, which is set to premiere on CMT March 28th, and the making of the video was great. We went out to Capital Theatre in Lebanon, TN and it was so awesome. We did a 3 day shoot and it was exactly what I wanted it to be. And there’s a plot twist!” – Read more at CelebSecretsCountry

‘It means a lot to me’: Jasmine Trias recalls stint on ‘American Idol’ – For her, being one of the first Filipinos to break that barrier is a title that the Honolulu-born carries with pride. “It means a lot to me and it really means the world to me. My mom always said you’re carrying the Filipino flag everywhere you go, it meant a lot to me and my family. It’s amazing for me to represent the Filipino community everywhere I go,” she said. Trias was just 17 years old when she took the world by storm finishing in the Top 3 of “American Idol.” – Read more at abs-cbn
