On why he cast 3 women to sit with him on the X Factor judges panel, Simon Cowell spilled to ex-galpal, Terri Seymour, in an interview with Extra TV.
Cowell said, “I thought all these shows are beginning to look the same, got two guys right and left, two girls in the middle.”
When describing how he hoped the chemistry between Demi Lovato, and new judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland would develop, Simon was as condescending as ever. Ugh.
“Well, I’m quite used to that, putting a load of girls into one situation and seeing how they get on. I like that. I think it’s fun.”
Yeesh.
Of course, Simon made sure to throw major shade on American Idol by describing the dysfunction on the panel without naming names.
What Cowell does not find fun is bickering between judges. “I’m bored by a bunch of millionaires bickering amongst themselves while somebody’s on stage going, ‘What about me?’ I can’t bear it any longer.”
Oh c’mon. If Nicki and Mariah were on his panel, he would have milked the animosity between the two for all of the publicity he could get. As if there weren’t antics on the X Factor panel that took the focus away from the contestants. C’mon. I especially recall ridiculous histrionics from Nicole Scherzinger during Season 1.
Simon hints we can expect changes to the X Factor middle rounds:
The “X Factor” creator also has other changes up his sleeve. “We’ve got a very interesting middle section now, which I won’t say what it is, but it’s really, really good. Very dramatic and better than what we did last year.”
Hm.
