The Saturday Night Season finale tonight featured Kanye West and Ben Affleck’s fifth time hosting the show.
Also, it was a bittersweet goodbye to both Bill Hader, and by extension his popular creation, Stefan, whose last Weekend Update appearance was unforgettable. Think The Graduate. And then imagine Stefon walking down the aisle with a rival newsman. I’ll post the skit here tomorrow morning when it’s up.
Also, there is a report that Fred Armisen is leaving too. The skit that closed the show–Armisen fronting an English rock band singing a goodbye song–seem to confirm it. Eventually, Carrie Brownstein (Portlandia), Thurston Moore (Throwing Muses), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Michael Penn and Aimee Mann eventually joined the band onstage. It was a very sweet send off.
