Sales News – Week Ending 11/26/15

Adele is Queen of all. She has dominated the conversation this week. She will dominate the conversation next week. She will dominate the charts for weeks to come. Billboard announced that she has already sold 3M and that is before the final day of sales. And that’s just sales. She has crushed *NSYNC’s record. She obliterated Britney’s record. She has set a new benchmark that probably only she can beat. To signify how impressive her numbers are – if she drops the typical 80% in sales next week, she will still have the second or this best selling week of the year. She already has the best selling album of the year.

Oh, and her previous album, “21” is sitting at 8th and her debut album “19” is sitting at 13th.

And then there is everybody else.

The only other debuts in the top 10 this week are rapper Jadakiss at 4th and Irish ethereal singer Enya at 7th.

Last week’s chart topper, Justin Bieber is expected to have a lower than expected drop in his second week. Usually, big selling all-out promo weeks result in higher than expected drops. He went head-to-head with X-Factor’s One Direction who also had a super-charged week, so it isn’t a bad thing they are seeing a typical drop in their second week. Chris Stapleton is still riding his career making performance for 5th on the charts while fellow country compatriot Eric Church is 10th.

Pentatonix has the “Christmas Album of the Year” for the second year (I’m calling it now short of a viral video or somebody dying). “That’s Christmas to Me” climbs higher every week as we head toward the holiday and this week it is at 6th. Their non-holiday recent release that debuted at the top of the chart is currently at 21st. Carrie Underwood narrowly missed topping the chart in her debut week, but has sold steadily since then and is at 12th. Idols appear on two compilation albums – Nick Fradiani on Now 56th at 9th and Tori Kelly on “We Love Disney” at 43rd. The Voice is once again represented by a judge at 32nd.
