MSNBC is reporting that Randy Jackson has struck a deal with FOX, with less than 24 hours to go before Ryan Seacrest announces, –tomorrow at the LA American Idol auditions–who will sit at the judges’ panel for Season 10. A “source” close to the show says it’s a multi-year deal.
The source wouldn’t say what took so long to negotiate Jackson’s deal. However, it’s rumored that it took some time to come to an agreement regarding salary. If Jennifer Lopez does get what’s rumored to be $12 million to join the show, that would put her in a salary range far greater than what Jackson was making, according to several people familiar with his original deal.
All that said, there might be an agreement but the ink is not dry. “The deal is done in principle, it’s just waiting to be papered, ” said the source.
I’ve read from multiple sources that Randy was in the midst of a deal that was set to expire at the end of next year.
The reporter, Courtney Hazlett, doesn’t have a great track record on Idol stuff. Not to mention she called the upcoming season Idol’s 9th. Whatever.
In less than 24 hours, the rumor mill will finally come to a halt. Hopefully.
