Before Phillip Phillips took the stage on Sunday, at the Super Bowl pre-game Tailgate party in New Jersey, he spoke with FUSE TV about football, his upcoming performance and the new album he is working on.
“It’s very exciting, it’s a little heavier,” said Phillip. “It’s a little more rock. First album, I had a blend of the folk and rock. Now, I’m pushing a little more towards me.”
“It’s a little darker, too,” said Phil about how the next album will compare to his post-Idol debut. “But also some happy things. Everybody wants to feel happy!”
Phillip has had a gruelling tour schedule this year, that included college solo dates and an opening spot on the John Mayer tour. But he did find time to write songs on the road.
“We’re just trying to get it all done, but in a good pace, not too crazy!” That would be in contrast to the 3 weeks it took to record his platinum selling debut, 2012’s World from the Side of the Moon.
