Phillip Phillips: Next Album Will Be “Darker” more “Me” (VIDEO)

Before Phillip Phillips took the stage on Sunday, at the Super Bowl pre-game Tailgate party in New Jersey, he spoke with FUSE TV about football, his upcoming performance and the new album he is working on.

“It’s very exciting, it’s a little heavier,” said Phillip. “It’s a little more rock. First album, I had a blend of the folk and rock. Now, I’m pushing a little more towards me.”

“It’s a little darker, too,” said Phil about how the next album will compare to his post-Idol debut. “But also some happy things. Everybody wants to feel happy!”

Phillip has had a gruelling tour schedule this year, that included college solo dates and an opening spot on the John Mayer tour. But he did find time to write songs on the road.
