Phillip Phillips sang the National Anthem today (2/22) before the NASCAR Daytona 500 in Florida today. He told the Daytona Beach News Journal earlier that he gets nervous when he things the anthem.
“It’s not easy doing the national anthem for sure,” said the American Idol season 11 winner in the media center this morning.
Phillip mentioned that he grew up watching NASCAR and called it “pretty intense.” On Sunday morning, he got a ride in a pace car with JJ Yeley. It felt like my stomach was about to go outside my ribs,” he said. “I was holding on with both hands on everything.”
