American Idol season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips, performed at a charity event in Boston last night for the Mass General Hospital cancer center, which celebrated the 7th annual awards ceremony honoring 100 individuals and organizations leading the fight against cancer. The honorees, named “the one hundred” were chosen from approximately 1,000 nominations this year, submitted from around the world.
DWTS alum, Valerie Harper, was one of the award recipients for her advocacy and being “a beacon of hope and inspiration” for her fellow cancer patients. While fighting brain cancer, the actress competed on DWTS along with her work promoting cancer awareness.
Actor and Boston native, Matt Damon, spoke at the event, accompanied by member of his family. His dad, Kent Damon, has received treatment at MGH for multiple myeloma.
