Paula Abdul’s new dance show could face off against Idol when it debuts in January. Live to Dance will debut on Tuesday, January 4 with a two hour debut at 8 pm, then move to it’s regular 8 pm 1-hour time slot on Wednesday January 5.
The series will begin broadcasting live Wednesday, January 12.
According to the Hollywood Reporter
Fox’s original midseason schedule announced back in May puts Idol at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, though the network is expected to reveal an updated midseason plan within the next couple months that could change that slot. Idol usually debuts in mid January.
The audition episodes, which often run 2 hours, could easily have a start time of 8 pm. Paula’s show has a short run–only 8 hours.
Could Live to Dance compete successfully against Idol? With folks curious about the new judges’ panel, I expect ratings for Season 10 to be solid, at least at first. What do you think?
