One Direction Storms the Today Show (VIDEO)

The Simon Cowell-created boy band, One Direction is taking the US by storm, or so it seems by the crowd that jammed Rockefeller center this morning for a Today Show concert. The news show reports that 1D broke a record–the concert was bigger than those by Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga.

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson tried out individually for The X Factor UK two years ago. Simon put them together in a group, they made the finals. They didn’t win, but became one of Simon’s major success stories from that season anyway.

Now, he brings the boys to America, and they’re hitting it big! Look at you Simon! Bringing boy bands back in fashion! I’ll admit, I was pretty dismissive of the idea–I’ll admit I was wrong.

If you haven’t heard of them, here’s your chance to check them out. Or, if you’ve got tween daughters, you might want to point them in 1D’s general direction. That’s the band’s target audience.

Enjoy the ride boys. It’ll be short, but fun.

FYI: Sorry–the video is out of sync–they are obviously not lipsyncing.
