AmericanIdol.com caught up with Season 14 Winner Nick Fradiani and Idol Mentor Scott Borchetta. Both attended the judges round auditions in San Francisco, a few weekends ago, which is where it looks like the videos were filmed. Both shared a few thoughts on what Nick has been working on since the finale.
“I’m so proud of Nick,” says Scott, “Nick was such a great student. Everything that we worked on, and the things that I told him he would have to do, is be ready to go to work and keep working.”
Nick describes what life has been like since the American Idol Live tour ended in August.”Scott’s had me at a ton of different radio stations all over the country, building those relationships,” he says, adding that he’s trying to write the “big songs.”
Noting that his coronation single, “Beautiful Life,” actually “did pretty well on radio,” the singer explains that “the next step is putting out what I consider to be my debut single.”
“Radio has fallen in love with this guy,” declares Scott, “He’s making fans everywhere he goes. I can’t wait to get in and finish this album.”
“Nick is a real guy,” adds Scott, “He’s got a real opportunity to have a major career.”
On crafting new songs, Nick reveals, “They’ve put me with some really good writers, producers. They’re letting me be a big part of the album.” Nick adds, “I’ve been completely involved with the writing…which is what I love to do.”
“It’s going to be really Top 40 and pop,” says Nick. “It’s a lot of fun right now.”
The San Francisco judges round were the very last American Idol auditions ever, before the show signs off after next season. It was so special, even Kanye West showed up.
American Idol returns for its 15th and final season in January.
