New Books Celebrate American Idol at 10 Years

While we’ll have to wait until April 2011 to read the upcoming  Kara Dioguardi memoir,   A Helluva High Note: Surviving Life, Love, and American Idol, two top-notch journalists familiar to all of us who love that cheesy show, are releasing Idol-related books in early 2011.

Shirley Halperin who has written extensively about Idol for Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and the Los Angeles Times (She’s now the music editor at The Hollywood Reporter) marks Idol’s 10th season with American Idol: Celebrating 10 Years.

The book a “photographic celebration of the first 10 years of the hit television show that changed the face of popular culture and the music industry throughout the world, ” is set to be released in March 2011.

Looking for something a little dishier? Richard Rushfield, who began covering  Idol for The Los Angeles Times at the start of Season 6, and now writes about Idol and other pop culture subjects for The Daily Beast, is ready to release American Idol: The Untold Story on January 18, coinciding with the Season 10 premiere.

Rushfield promises “Candid interviews with Idol alumni, including Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell” and the first Idol book to “take America behind the curtain and tell what has really been happening on the world’s most watched and speculated about stage.”

I’m looking forward to both books. How about you?
