I was rooting for Gabe Garcia, the most authentic country singer out of this entire crew. Melissa is a decent singer, but she seems more like a Celine-style belter with a bit of a twang, rather than a real country singer. In the end, it probably won’t matter much. This entire cast will probably fade into obscurity with the rest of the Nashville Star alumni.
I mentioned in another thread that the craptasticness that is Nashville Star reminds me of how well-produced the 19E reality shows are. I started watching So You Think You Can Dance this summer. Can’t dance, know nothing about dance, could care less about dance, yet somehow I’ve become completely engaged in the show. The 19E shows succeed, in part, because they’re cast with characters the audience will potentially become invested in, the producers create an atmosphere where chemistry can develop between the characters and th a suspenseful story line that keeps audiences riveted. The peeps who produced this watered-down version of Nashville Star were completely clueless. What a shame, because I hear the show was pretty entertaining when it ran on the USA Network.
