The first week of September yielded 4 Mediabase milestones from some of our usual suspects and a newcomer.
Jennifer Hudson, who famously finished 7th on the 3rd season of Idol and went onto recording success by winning an Oscar, has a new album coming out September 23rd. One of the singles heralding that release is “It’s Your World” featuring one of those singers who seems to be able to come back from scandal (I’ve noticed your odds of doing that improve if you are male). The song goes top 15 in UAC this week.
Cher Lloyd is another successful non-winner of her franchise. This X-Factor UK contestant is featured on Demi Lovato’s “Really Don’t Care”. The song is fading on its home format of Pop, but it debuted on AC this week in the top 50.
Phillip Phillips is our sole winner this week making milestones. “Unpack Your Heart” is the Season 11 Idol’s winner’s second single from his second album and the song moved into the top 40 of AAA. It holds 36th on both the HAC and AAA charts.
Our newcomer this week is Ella Henderson from the British version of X-Factor. She finished 6th, but Simon liked her so she got a contract. Her debut single “Ghost” debuts on HAC in the top 50.
