Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Mar 11-17

This week X-Factor racks up the milestones on Pop while Idol has a few of their own.

X-Factor UK has a strong showing on the Pop charts this week. Olly Murs, the runner-up on the sixth season, is roaring up the chart with his Maroon 5-tinged “Troublemaker” featuring the obiquitous Flo Rida. The song looks to be his first solid hit in the US hitting top 15 in Pop and top 30 on HAC this week. Cher Lloyd, 4th in season 7, has her “With Ur Love” climbing into the top 30 on Pop. The winners of season 8, Little Mix, achieve their first top 40 US song with “Wings”. Over on the AC chart, One Direction (who came in 3rd on Cher’s season) have come out of nowhere (well 105th position) to chart “Kiss You” in the top 40.

Fantasia is the only new Idol milestone of the week. Her “Lose to Win” moves into the top 10 on UAC. There are only 3 songs with bullets in the top 10 of UAC this morning, so she may have picked an excellent window to release (not that she doesn’t pretty consistently top that chart). Fantasia’s season 3 castmate, Leah Labelle achieved a milestone last week that I apologize for failing to note. Her “Lolita” went top 50 on Urban. Phillip Phillips, AI’s latest winner, continues to top the AC chart with his coronation song “Home”.

While Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs” is sitting at number 2 this morning, it actually achieved number 1 status for the week last night. The last chart on Sunday night counts as the official published charts. This is her 17th number one hit. So congrats Carrie! (and thanks Windmills and Jason Scott for the info!).

Finally, for the voice, Cassaddee’s “Over You” returns to the top 40 on AC and Vicci’s “Come Along” returns to the top 30 on AAA (both after a week’s absence).
