Monday Morning Mediabase Update: June 15-21

Five milestones this week, all in formats ending in “AC”.

Let’s start with AC (Adult Contempory) itself. It’s not very often we get to say this, but an alumni from The Voice has arrived on the radio chart (and it’s not a Country chart!). Avery was from Season 3 and was cut during the Knockout Rounds after singing “Jolene” against Cody Belew. He was brought back to sing his single “If I Have To” during Season 8 and it has now entered the top 40 on AC. Also entering the Top 40 is America’s Got Talent competitor Emily West. She was runner-up on the 9th Season and “Bitter” is her first single off of her upcoming “Rocket Science” album.

Next alphabetically is CAC (Christian Adult Contemporary). Colton Dixon, from Season 11 of American Idol where he finished 7th, has carved out a successful career for himself in Christian music. His songs tend to do better on the Christian HAC format, but that hasn’t stopped him from going top 15 on the CAC format with “Through All of It”.

Finally, we have HAC (Hot Adult Contemporary). Adam Lambert from Season 8 of American Idol goes top 20 with his “Ghost Town”. We should start seeing estimates for his album released last week from HDD today. Also from Idol, and the most recent winner, Nick Fradiani has his coronation single go top 40 on HAC (which seems a better fit than Pop).
