Monday Morning Mediabase Update: June 13-19

This week’s milestones are all about country songs and a blast from the past singing the hook for a Rhythmic song. Never give up, never surrender!

Kelly Clarkson’s duet with Jason Aldean continues to make its mark wherever it goes. “Don’t You Wanna Stay” peaked on Country a while ago, but that wasn’t going to stop the song. It has now marched over to cross-over on three mainstream charts. The song has been on HAC, for a while, but it has just become top 50 on Pop. It also reaches top 15 on AC this week meaning that it is top 15 on two formats. It looks like “Don’t You Wanna Stay” does not wanna go.

Carrie Underwood’s duet with Brad Paisley is also showing a lot of energy. “Remind Me” has been racing up the Country charts and entered the top 20 this week.

And there are two more Country Female Idols just entering the charts. Lauren Alaina officially reached top 50 last week, but a chart glitch meant we didn’t see it until the next day. Her coronation single “Like My Mother Does” is her first single to chart. Always a nice milestone to get.

Right behind Lauren on the chart is a woman who recently welcomed her with open arms to Nashville. Season 5’s Kellie Pickler’s debut single “Tough” from her third album also entered the top 50 on Country at 49.

Finally, giving a bit of hope to a lot of Idols and their fans is Chris Richardson. Chris a contestant during Season 6. A lot of his fellow contestants that season had high praise for his writing and he did co-write a track on Blake Lewis’s album. He has pretty much been kicking around the music biz trying to get something happen since then. Now, Chris has teamed up with rapper Tyga to sing the hook on his latest single. The song has entered the top 50 on Rhythmic and is going for adds this week. If the song turns out to be a success, he would be another example of long -after-Idol success.

ETA Ruben Studdard. He has been featured on Keke Wyatt’s “Saturday Love” and I’ve been missing it all along. It is in the UAC top 40.
