Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Feb 9-16

Two debuts this week from American Idols a season apart. From Season 4, Carrie Underwood’s second single from her “Greatest Hits” album (it is now customary to put new hits on “Greatest Hits” albums) debuts in the top 50 on Country. “Little Toy Guns” is the second new song from the album to chart in that format after “Something in the Water” went to number 2. From the following season comes Mandisa (who finished way back in 9th) debuts “Press On” from her 2013 Overcomer album on CAC.

We get a second single achieving a milestone on Country from Canaan Smith. Canaan was on The Amazing Race and his “Love You Like That” moves into the top 30 on Country – I believe that is his first top 30 song.

Ella Henderson comes to us from X-Factor UK and her debut single “Ghost” is climbing the three mainstream charts. She is one spot short of top 5 on HAC and top 10 on Pop, but she did move into the top 20 on AC this week. Meanwhile, franchisemates One Direction went top 20 on Pop with “Night Changes”.
