Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Dec 27-Jan 3

The Christmas freeze is over and things are looking up. In fact, the Country, AC and CAC charts feature bullets for all of the top 50 songs. The gains for the next week should be pretty large. So, you would think that Idol songs would be making some major moves, but you could be wrong. The radio stations are going to spend the next couple of weeks re-visiting the hits from before Christmas before moving onto something new. That means a lot of those songs that were in free-fall before the freeze are suddenlly seeing increases too. Not to worry, it’s all part of the magic that is the Christmas season. Just so long as a song doesn’t start free-falling itself, it should be okay. And the countdown shows start this week too!

We said goodbye to a lot of songs this week. All of them Christmas songs (Katharine, Elliott, Mandisa, David A, Kellie and Carrie). But, in many cases, they were replaced by other songs by the artist. Jordin re-joined our charts and Danny makes his first appearance with a huge leap up the chart in Country. Also on Country, we have Carrie getting yet another top 20 song and Kelly races away from those fireflies for her 8th week at the top of the HAC chart (I bet the Owl City fans are buying voodoo dolls right now). Carrie, Daughtry and Kris also pick up some new charts for their songs.

Real life intruded and these are Monday morning numbers (with last week’s numbers where possible).

Here are your Monday Morning Mediabase Updates for airplay as of 4am of 01/04/10 after the jump.
