Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Dec 23-29

Well, Christmas happened.

It was mid-week this year, so it has left the charts in a rather interesting state as the stations switch back to regular programming and year-end countdown. Lots of negative spincreases. Country looks very dire. And that is where our lone Monday Morning Mediabase Milestone is located.

Scotty McCreery continues to work his single and increasingly it is paying off dividends in the airplay and download charts. This week, “See You Tonight” moved into the top 20 on Country. Who would have believed that when the song seemed to be struggling during the first half of its life? Way to stick with it Scotty and his label crew.

In other news, the retreat of the Christmas songs have allowed other songs to return. Phillip Phillips’s “Gone, Gone, Gone” returns to the top 10 on CAC and Mandisa’s powerhouse “Overcomer” climbs from top 40 on CAC to top 2.
