Monday Morning Mediabase 07/18/2022

Seven milestones (eight really) to during the seventh month of the year.

Harry Styles hits three milestones this week in two different formats. This X-Factor alum is currently working two singles and has a bonus single. “Late Night Talking” is his second single from “Harry’s House”. It hit top 5 on Pop and top 15 on HAC while also being top 40 on AC. “As it Was” was his first single from the album and it spent a long time at number one on the Pop and HAC charts. This week, it is still number 2 on Pop (3 on HAC) giving him two songs in the top 5 on Pop. His third pre-single “Music From a Sushi Restaurant” just hit top 40 in that format as well. Meanwhile, “Harry’s House” is 4th on the BB200 (2nd last week) with 53K in equivalent albums (-2%).

Morgan Wallen from The Voice also has three milestones this week, but he does it on three different formats. “Wasted on You” just ended a 3 week run on the top of the Country format, but becomes his first cross-over success debuting on both Pop and HAC. Let’s see if he can do as well as Gabby. “Wasted on You” is from “Dangerous: The Double Album” which continues in the top 10 of the BB200 – this week at number 5 (dropping from 4th) with 49K in equivalent album sales (-2%). His next single coming from a TBA album is called “You Proof” and it debuts on his home format of Country.

We also need to mention Scotty McCreery’s “Damn Strait” that patiently waited its turn to go number one in the Country format. It did that during the week and I believe it will get the number one spot on the official Mediabase chart, but narrowly missed it this morning on our tracking because we collect numbers on Monday morning where it had been passed by another song.

Finally, we have Colton Dixon who first gained popularity on the same season of Idol as Scotty. While he didn’t make the top 24 in Season 10, he generated a lot of buzz and was asked to perform on Ellen’s show. He returned in Season 11 to support his sister at the auditions and was talked into auditioning again. He went on to finish 7th and became a CAC regular. This week “Build a Boat” went top 30 in the format.
