Five milestones to mark in our second week of July.
X-Factorer Harry Styles has released his grip on the number one spot on HAC, but is still finding ways to make milestones. This week, “Late Night Talking” surges on to the AC chart as its debut. The song is the second single off of his “Harry’s House” album which climbs to number 2 on the BB200 this week. Last week, the album was sixth and sales are down 14% to 54K equivalent albums.
Morgan Wallen retains the number one spot on Country radio for a third week (holding off Scotty McCreery). Most Country songs only get a week on the top of the chart, but Morgan’s popularity is insane. One only wonders how well he would be if he didn’t create scandals. His “Dangerous: The Double Album” ascends to 4th (from 8th) with sales down just 1% to 50K.
Another Voice alumni getting a milestone this week is Lilith Czar. She competed as Juliet Simms on the second season of the show where she came in second. “100 Little Deaths” is top 40 on Active Rock this week.
Ingrid Andress was on the Sing-Off and is now a Country artist. Her collaboration with Sam Hunt is called “Wishful Drinking” and it went top 20 on Country radio this week.
Finally, we see AIer Danny Gokey going top 40 on CAC with “We All Need Jesus”. As reader Amy Beth pointed out last week, the song is a collaboration with The Voice’s Koryn Hawthorne, but Mediabase is not crediting her for some reason (could be another dominant version, but more likely, the Mediabase database just needs an update).
