Three milestones this week all from Country artists, but not all on Country charts.
Starting off our country juggernaut today is Scotty McCreery. “In Between” goes top 5 on the Country chart. This is his 3rd top 5 single from “Seasons Change”. When Scotty started releasing singles for this album, he was between labels and now he is celebrating his most successful run of singles of his career. Scotty won the tenth season of American Idol.
Next up is Chase Rice from Survivor. “Lonely if You Are” goes top 20. This is the debut single from his “The Album, Pt 1” EP. While he may have come in second on “Survivor”, he has been number one on Country.
Gabby Barrett may have come in third on the re-boot season of American Idol, but she has not let that stop her. She released “I Hope” independently before getting signed and the song ultimately went to number 1 on Country. It has now crossed over to charting in all three mainstream formats. Amy Beth noted last week that while they are sending the Charlie Puth remix to the mainstream formats, radio seems to prefer the original version (that is the version that is listed as charting). This week “I Hope” went top 30 on HAC.
