Monday Morning Mediabase 03/08/2021

Three milestones this week on the Monday Morning Mediabase Memo.

The first of our two milestones are from European franchises of show. The X-Factor UK birthed the franchise and introduced the world to Harry Styles. Harry Styles started his musical career in the very successful One Direction and has gone on to success in his solo career. “Golden” is his third single from his second album and it went top 10 on HAC this week. All three radio singles from that album have gone top 10 in that format (with the previous two going to number one).

The Voice concept was first invented in Holland and debuted our next performer. Duncan Laurence was on the fifth season of the show. He went on to win the Eurovision singing contest for Holland with “Arcade”. The song achieved top 20 on AC this week.

Vedo is from the US version of The Voice and appeared on its 4th season. His “You Got It” is charting on 3 formats and went top 15 on Urban this week.

Finally, to the BB200 where the Voice’s most successful alumni Morgan Wallen has built a mansion on the top of the hill. For the eighth consecutive week his “Dangerous: The Double Album” tops the BB200 chart. His is only one of six country albums to spend that long on the top of the chart and the only one to stay that long continuously from its debut. “D:DA” earned 82K equivalent albums (-7%) including 75K SEAs (-7%, 103.33M), 6K in sales (-4%) and 1K in TEAs (-13%). One could only imagine how well he would be doing if he hadn’t torpedoed his own career.
