Midas Whale and Grace Askew Cover “In The Pines” (VIDEO)

Midas Whale were holed up in a hotel with a bunch of other The Voice 4 contestants, and made it their mission to perform with as many as they could.

Here are Jon Peter Lewis and Ryan Hayes, otherwise known as Midas Whale, singing the folk song “In The Pines” with  the incomparable Grace Askew, late of Team Blake.  It’s a tune that has been covered by a diverse cross section of artists, including Leadbelly, Bill Monroe and Nirvana.

Both Midas Whale and Grace were eliminated in The Voice Knockout Rounds. It’s too bad for both, because I find them more interesting than some of the artists left in the competition coughhollytuckerswonbrotherscough. Grace sings lead here, and her rendition of the classic song is absolutely haunting. Grace is a really special talent.

Also, congratulations are in order! Midas Whale hit their $30,000 Kickstarter goal with 4 days to spare! You can still contribute if you haven’t already by clicking this link.
