“McCanick” – Cory Monteith Tapped His Dark Past For His Final Film Role (VIDEO)

In the wake of the shocking death of Glee star, Cory Monteith, a clip of a film he shot last September in Philadelphia has surfaced.

“McCanick” took 3 weeks to shoot, in between filming his day job playing the newly-graduated Finn Hudson on Glee. It was the first dark role for the actor and mirrored his troubled past as a drug abuser.

Cory plays Simon Weeks, a drug-addicted street hustler who is just paroled from a seven year stint in prison on murder charges. David Morse, the detective responsible for putting him behind bars, goes on a mission to hunt him down.

On Cory wanting to take on the challenging role, director Josh C. Wallace said, “He was very vocal about his past, and said he wanted to tap into things from his youth that he hadn’t been able to use as an actor yet.”

“He didn’t say it was a cathartic experience, but you could sense it,” Waller added.
