Survivor and The Voice producer, Mark Burnett will executive produce his first unscripted dating series for FOX, set to air in 2016.
FOX has ordered 10 episodes of an unscripted dating series from Emmy Award-winning executive producer Mark Burnett (“Survivor,” “The Voice”). Set in the Caribbean Islands, the series will take the instant “yes or no” connection of modern digital romance to the next level. Single men and women will match up, based on their instant chemistry, but the real soap opera will unfold when these budding couples discover whether or not they have the compatibility to make their relationships last. Further details will be announced at a later date.
“I am so happy to be making my first dating series with FOX,” says Burnett. “It’s a genre that attracts a wide audience and our series gives a very fresh perspective that mirrors real life.”
Mark Burnett is an eight-time Emmy Award winner, having produced more than 3,200 hours of television programming which regularly airs in more than 70 countries worldwide. The group Burnett leads currently has numerous TV shows airing or in production, including “The Voice” (NBC); “Survivor” (CBS); “Shark Tank” (ABC); “Fargo” (FX); “Vikings” (HISTORY); “Beyond the Tank” (ABC); “Celebrity Apprentice” (NBC); “Teen Wolf” (MTV); “500 Questions” (ABC); “The People’s Choice Awards” (CBS); “Lucha Underground” (El Rey Network) and “America’s Greatest Makers” (INTEL/Turner Awards (CBS). Last month, Burnett was named President of MGM Television and Digital Group.
The untitled series is produced by MGM Television and Grandma’s House Entertainment. The series is created and executive-produced by Mark Burnett, Ben Newmark, Dan Newmark and Larry Barron. MGM serves as the worldwide distributor of the series outside of the U.S. and Canada.
Burnett tends to produce winners, having helped accelerate the demise of the network’s death star, American Idol, with his own singing competition, The Voice on NBC. He owes FOX one. Heh.
