On the heels of learning that Dancing with the Stars pro, (and mirror ball winner, with partner Kellie Pickler) Derek Hough will be returning to the show this fall, is news that bad boy, Maksim Chmerkovsky, could be returning when DWTS premieres on September 16.
The news comes by way of the ABC executive panel, at the Television Critics Association tour, that took place on Sunday. ABC chief, Paul Lee, said, “Maks is part of the family. He may well be back,” The dancer sat out the spring (16) cycle of the dance competition for the first time since season 6.
“We love having him a part of it,” he added.
I missed Maks. He’s such a troublemaker. Ha.
DWTS will be cut back to a single weekly show that will serve as a performance/results combo episode, much like So You Think You Can Dance has functioned in the past two seasons. Of the new format, Lee said to reporters, that the two hour Monday show will “build to a climax at the end” and will continue to involve a combination of judge and viewer votes.
