Lea Michele issued a statement via her representatives after the British Columbia coroner service announced that her boyfriend, fellow Glee star, Cory Monteith, died of a toxic mixture of heroin and alcohol.
“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them,” reads the statement, obtained by PEOPLE magazine.
“They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”
The couple dated for more than a year, although they have played on again off again couple, Finn and Rachel on Glee. Watch Lea perform a powerful and emotional “My Man” from Funny Girl from the season 2 “Funeral” episode of the show. Ironically, the plot revolved around the death of Sue Sylvester’s sister, although in this particular scene, Rachel is singing about Finn, who had broken off their relationship earlier in the season.
