The Glee cast took the stage at the FOX Teen Choice awards Sunday night (Aug 11) to accept the award for Choice TV Comedy. The cast, including Kevin McHale, Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz dedicated the award to the fans, because that’s how their cast mate and friend, Cory Monteith, would have wanted it. Amber said he was like a “brother to us–like a dad.” Chord Overstreet won Choice TV Scene Stealer and Blake Jenner took the newbie award, Choice TV Breakout Star.
After, Lea Michele tearfully accepted the Award for Choice Actress Comedy (with Kevin, Jenna and Amber behind her for support) and had this to say about her boyfriend and co-star, the late Cory Monteith.
I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much all your love and support has meant to me, over these past difficult few weeks. Not that I had any doubt before, but you guys are most certainly the best fans in the world.
I want to dedicate this award to Cory, for all of you out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did. I promise, with your love, we’re going to get through this together. He was very special to me, and also to the world. We were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally, or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and became a part of all of our hearts. So thank you guys, so much.
The segment ended with a tribute card to Cory. Not a dry eye.
