Lauren Alaina Throwing Chattanooga Benefit Concert May 14

UPDATE2: The Chattanoogan reports that the concert will go on regardless if Lauren makes it into the Top 3. There seem to be conflicting reports. Maybe Uncle Nigel will clear this up for us.

UPDATE:  Channel 9 News is reporting that the concert will only happen if Lauren makes the Top 3 and gets a homecoming concert:

That however, would depend upon the young singer from Rossville, Ga. making it into the Top 3. The top three contestants in “American Idol” get the chance to go home for special events which are always featured on the popular show.

If Lauren stays in the competition to the Top 3, she hopes to hold a storm victim benefit concert at Coolidge Park.

The Chattanooga Free Press is reporting that a representative for Lauren Alaina appeared before the Chattanooga City Council today and said the American Idol contestant will throw a benefit concert for storm victims on May 14 in town.

Interestingly, Saturday May 14 is the same weekend the Top 3 contestants film their hometown visits.  Do the Idol producers already know something we don’t?

Lauren “wants to make sure she helps out her hometown as well.” Hm.

Karen Alayne, Lauren’s vocal coach tells the Free Press, “She has a big heart and she’s torn up about the news.”

Alayne said there will be a parade to start the event and the concert is tentatively scheduled for Coolidge Park.
