Rodney over at AJC whipped up an estimate of the number of hopefuls who attended American Idol auditions this summer, and noted the tally was down by 6%. I figured it was due to the lack of big cities on the list–no Los Angeles, New York or Philadelphia.
As it turns out, hopefuls will have a chance to audition in a big city, as Idol has announced an 8th audition stop.
AI 11 hopefuls have one more shot to try out in East Rutherford New Jersey on Tuesday September 20. Registration begins on the 20th at 7 am, the auditions commence on September 22 at 5 am.
Get those audition totals up! As it stands now, little Pittsburgh PA wins the totals race, with an estimated 12K hopefuls auditioning. The big east coast cities usually have a great turnout, so Idol should see a nice increase in those numbers, which now total around 64K.
Last year, the Idol crew hit up Los Angeles at the end of the tour, you may remember.
