Fans of Laine Hardy know that he loves his hometown, Livingston, Louisiana. The American Idol season 19 winner has recorded several songs extolling the virtues of the “Ground I Grew Up On.” and his “Tiny Town.”
But now, Hurricane Ida has swept through Louisiana and caused damage to the place he calls home. Thankfully, however, he and his family are safe, the singer assured fans in a recent social media post.
“Thank you for your messages and prayers,” the singer said on social media. “My family and I are safe from Hurricane Ida, thankfully. I will be sharing ways you can support my home state over the next few days. Love y’all.”
Laine explained that the eye of the storm went through Livingston, and did a lot of damage. He acknowledged that the storm wreaked havoc all through southeast Louisiana. At the time he shot the clip, he wasn’t home to see the damage, but he said, “from the pictures, it’s just really crazy to see it.”
“Please keep everyone affected by Ida in your prayers.” he asked fans. He plans to head back home soon to bring the town much needed supplies.

Laine made his Grand Ole Opry Debut on Saturday
The hurricane came on the heels of Laine’s Grand Ole Opry debut on Saturday (Aug 28). It was a milestone moment for the young singer, surely made bittersweet, as the gig kept him in Nashville instead of with his family during the storm.
The Opry livestreams the concerts on their Youtube and other social media pages. American Idol season 10 singer, Lauren Alaina also performed a set that night. During the concert, host Bobby Bones urged fans to donate funds for another catastrophic weather event–floods that killed 20 people in Humphreys County Tennessee.
At the Opry, Laine performed his song “Other LA” and his new single “Authentic” from his upcoming album Here’s to Anyone out September 17. The singer is currently out on tour, including opening for Toby Keith on a few dates, and headlining the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. Check out his schedule HERE.
