This is pretty cool. Kris Allen has been finding creative ways to promote his music, now that he’s an indie artist. The song “Lost,” a cut from the American Idol season 8 winner’s recent album Horizons, was featured in the latest episode of the popular CW drama, Vampire Diaries.
In the episode, titled “I Alone”, after being punched twice by Alaric (Matt Davis), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is comforted by Elena (Nina Dobrev). He’s upset, after abandoning their friend Bonnie, in a 1994 purgatory-like time warp the two had been stuck in for months. When Bonnie realizes she’s alone, she breaks down and weeps.
“She sacrificed everything for us, over and over again.” says Damon ” And then we were supposed to be there for her…”
More than just background music, the song is used to underpin and propel the emotion-filled scene. The mournful tune framed the drama really well, so I’m not surprised that Kris got a nice bump on iTunes afterward.
