Katharine McPhee and Kelly Clarkson Cover Mariah Carey Amid Coronavirus Quarantine

During the coronavirus pandemic, our favorite singing show alums have had to postpone concerts. For instance American Idol season 1 winner and The Voice coach, Kelly Clarkson was set to begin a Las Vegas residency in April. And American Idol season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee was getting ready to hit the road with her husband, famed producer David Foster.But now, while many of us are holed up at home, musicians are entertaining their fans from the comfort of their living rooms. Recently, both Kelly and Katharine posted covers of songs by legendary AND former American Idol judge, Mariah Carey.

Kelly Clarkson Covers Mariah’s “Vanishing” Inside Her Montana Cabin Bathroom

Kelly is currently staying with her kids and husband, Brandon Blackstock, in their Montana cabin. Not only is Kelly’s concert cancelled, but The Voice live shows scheduled for May and The Kelly Clarkson Show daytime talker are also postponed.

Here’s Kelly singing Mariah’s “Vanishing” from the cabin’s bathroom.

“I totally changed the whole song!” Kelly laughed afterward. She asks her fans to maintain social distancing in order to keep those on the frontlines of healthcare safe. She promises more online concerts ahead.

Mariah inspired Kelly’s cover after the legendary singer responded to a Kelly shoutout on The Voice. While attempting to pitch contestant Mandi Castillo, Kelly gushed over Mariah.  Mandi ultimately chose John Legend as her coach.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster Pay Tribute to “Hero” Healthcare Workers

Speaking of healthcare workers, Katharine McPhee and David Foster sing Mariah’s “Hero” in tribute to those helping to keep us well. Katharine writes on Twitter, “We dedicate to all the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers – the actual heroes – who are tirelessly helping all of us in these times of despair. Much love! X”

Mariah responded to Katharine as well. “Appreciate you so much!!,” Mariah wrote on Twitter, “Thank you for singing my song so beautifully (and of course bravo to the maestro David Foster on the piano) Take care and stay safe!”
