  1. I find this very easy to believe. Yesterday in the 2 and a half hours that I was trapped in my car chauffeuring kids around and listening to the radio, I was amazed when I realized how many idols I heard. It seemed as though every other song was either an idol winner or an idol contestant.

  2. Interesting seeing that Josh Gracin is the highest ranking AI non-winner in spins especially since he’s the beneficiary of airplay on only 1 format: country. Lyric Street was horrible to him about his sophomore album though. One delay after another and I heard they only printed limited copies.

  3. What would be interesting now is to find the number of albums sold per radio spin to find out who made the most out of each spin.

eg for the sales I know approx

Carrie sales about 12m albums (off top of my head) means about 7.2 albums/spin

Kellie P sales about 1.2m albums means at least 5 or 6 albums/spin, probably more as she is not in the top 10 for radio.

Jennifer H, David C and Daughtry are all about 2.6 or 2.7 albums/spin.

Jordin not much more than 1 album/spin

    Elliott about 1.7 albums/spin

It would be interesting to compare radio spins with single sales also if someone has figs.

True that. I have bought both of Josh Gracin’s albums, and they are good.

Lol – you all do realize that Daughtry didn’t actually win, right? He’s actually #2 on the list.

I have commented on that before, that you can’t turn on the radio and flip through without hearing Idols, and usually more than one. I was only in the car 1/2 hour or so today and heard Kris (LLWD), Kelly (Already Gone), and Carrie (Cowboy Casanova). It’s like that every time!

  7. “Interesting seeing that Josh Gracin is the highest ranking AI non-winner in spins ”

Yeah, except um, actually he’s not. That would be Daughtry :)

Still I think I know what you meant. I was a little surprised to see Josh Gracin scoring so highly, but even though he’s not getting a lot of play now doesn’t mean he wasn’t back when, and this is over the span of the decade.

    Interesting facts

  8. And Clay is no where in that list? Impossible. Utterly impossible. He was the most searched-for name on Google in 2006. He has trizillions of fans. Plus he’s the awesome. Clay should be there.

But have you ever heard a Clay Aiken cover on the radio? I haven’t. Ever.
