The Saturday Night Live season finale featured host Dwayne Johnson and musical guest Katy Perry. The future American Idol judge performed two new singles, “Swish Swish” and “Bon Appetite” from her upcoming album, Witness.
“Swish Swish” has caused a stir, because speculation is that Katy wrote it as a clap back to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.” In fact, one of Swifties “squad” pals, Orange is the New Black pal Ruby Rose, sniped at Katy on twitter.
Nicki Minaj appears on the recorded version, and I was soooo hoping to get a duet between former and future American Idol judges, but it was not meant to be. Still, we got a bevy of sashaying drag queens and gender fluid performance artists, which is almost as good.
