Katy Perry, Alicia Keys And More – Dear Class of 2020 Event (VIDEO)

American Idol judge Katy Perry ended the Dear Class of 2020 YouTube ceremony on Sunday (June 7) with two performances. The heavily pregnant singer followed former president Barack Obama’s speech to help graduates toss their caps.

“Let’s turn those tassels and make it kind of official — whether you’ve got a real cap and a tassel or an iPhone taped to a pizza box,” she said. “This is the moment for everyone around the globe to graduate at once. No matter where you are, remember: The tassel goes from right to left.”

After the countdown, and an explosion of photos depicting graduates turning their tassels, she performed her new sing, “Daisies.” The message, about pursuing your dreams no matter what anyone else says, is apt for the occasion. She closed the ceremony with her 2010 hit, “Firework” against a backdrop of grads tossing their hats in the air.

The Youtube event offered graduates a virtual party in liu of the many ceremonies and parties canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Also appearing were Beyonce, Lizzo, Lady Gaga and Alicia Keys.
