Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young To Lead FIRST DATE National Tour – BroadwayWorld has learned that that Broadway Stars and real-life couple Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young will headline the First National Tour of the musical comedy First Date. Although DeGarmo and Young were both contestants on “American Idol,” their “first date” was during the Broadway production of HAIR in 2010. After dating for three years, they tied the knot in 2013 and immediately starred in the National Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. They will share the stage once again beginning fall of 2020. First Date is written by Austin Winsberg (book) with Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (music and lyrics) and this newly updated production will be directed by Matt DiCarlo (NY/National Tour: The Play That Goes Wrong). Kaleb Lee’s upcoming single, ‘I Dream in Southern,’ will feature Kelly Clarkson – After getting national exposure and a musical “boot camp” as a contestant on “The Voice,” he released a single (“Cooler Weather”) on his own label, and he has a second one scheduled for release on July 19, “I Need a Drink,” which he describes as another “fun, summer tune.” His third single will be “I Dream in Southern,” the song Clarkson brought to Lee, asking him to sing it with her as the title track on his first full-length album, coming out in the fall. Haley Reinhart Announces Fall Leg of Lo-Fi Tour

American Idol season 10 alum is set to tour the east coast this fall. 

‘Idol’s’ Wade Cota readies hometown show – On Thursday, June 20, Cota will sing the national anthem just before the D-backs vs. Dodgers game. He admits he’s nervous about singing a cherished song like that. Cota is mainly excited about his show with Wyves, Chad Rubin and Michael Coughlin on Saturday, June 29. “I plan to play the covers I sang on ‘American Idol’ and some of my original stuff,” Cota said. He is working on an album of original songs. Cota’s happy with the two completed songs, one of which will be released before his Marquee Theatre show. – Read more at Peoria Times.com

‘World of Dance’ Judge Derek Hough Signs First-Look Deal With Universal Television – “World of Dance” judge Derek Hough has signed a first-look deal with Universal Television, Variety has learned. The deal encompasses both alternative and scripted programming. Hough has been a judge on the NBC competition series for three seasons since its launch in May 2017. He also co-starred in the network’s production of “Hairspray Live!” in 2016. “Derek is incredibly engaged and passionate about every project he tackles and is exactly the type of talent we want to be in business with,” said Meredith Ahr, president of the alternative and reality group at NBC. “We’re excited to have him in the Universal Television family and work with him even closer as a producer to develop new and innovative ideas.” – Read more at Variety

HBO’s Explicit ‘Euphoria’ Courts Controversy: – The risqué material was even too much for a principal castmember. While shooting the pilot, actor Brian “Astro” Bradley, 22, a former X Factor contestant and rapper signed to Nas’ label, wanted out of the show. Details surrounding his exit are fiercely guarded, but sources say Bradley was uncomfortable shooting scenes that weren’t in the original pilot script and suggested his character would experiment with homosexuality in future episodes. After a lengthy back-and-forth with producers, HBO stepped in and replaced Bradley with The Hate U Give’s Algee Smith. They reshot his parts in the pilot, including an intense sex scene with 21-year-old actress Sydney Sweeney, who says of the recasting, “Let’s just say I’m very glad that Algee is playing the character.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter
