Is American Idol’s Alejandro Aranda Signed to Hollywood Records?

American Idol Alejandro Aranda

American Idol runner-up Alejandro Aranda will play a free concert at Ascend Amphitheater  on Wednesday July 3 to coincide with a Gold Cup semifinal soccer match that evening. A mini fireworks will follow. The event provides additional entertainment in advance of the city’s annual Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th.

A short bio that accompanied the press release from the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp claims that Alejandro is currently working on an album for Hollywood Records.  There is no confirmation that Hollywood/19 signed Alejandro after the finale. However,  there is an option in runner-up’s contract that gives Hollywood first dibs on signing him. If Hollywood had actually signed him, I think there would have been an announcement by now. But stranger things have happened.

Aranda, known professionally as Scarypoolparty, came in second on the show and since then has been working tirelessly to prepare his debut project with Hollywood Records. Recently, Scarypoolparty sold out his first headline tour in under 12 minutes including sold out shows in Brooklyn, Los Angeles and two hometown shows at The Glass House in Pomona, CA. The run of live dates kicks off in Washington, D.C. on July 8 at DC9. Aranda, who hails from Pomona, CA, formally began creating music just four years ago and proved to be one of the most inventive and original artists to date on American Idol, captivating not only the judges but millions of viewers nationwide. “USA Today” called Aranda a “viral sensation” and, to date, his American Idol audition has over 10.5 million views.

Artists performing at Ascend Amphitheater on July 3 include headliner Alejandro Aranda performing as Scarypoolparty at 6:15 p.m., along with Bizz & Everyday People at 4 p.m. and The Whigs at 5 p.m. “Today In Nashville” personality Kelly Sutton will emcee. Gates at Ascend Amphitheater will open at 3 p.m.  A free Family Fun Zone with activities and entertainment by DJ Robert Luke will take place on both July 3 and July 4 starting at noon at Music City Walk of Fame Park.

The semifinal Gold Cup soccer match will take place at Nissan Stadium at 8 p.m. A five-minute fireworks show, which will be shot from the East Bank, will follow at approximately 10 p.m. Tickets are still available for the Gold Cup game.
