A rep for Katharine McPhee tells people magazine that the American Idol 5 runner-up has filed for divorce from her husband, Nick Cokas:
“After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas. The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time.”
Late last year, after having separated from Cokas, Kat became embroiled in a bit of a scandal when she was photographed kissing her Smash director, Michael Morris. He is married to actress, Mary McCormack.
Morris and McCormack have reportedly since reconciled. Katharine and Cokas were reportedly working on their marriage too. But I wonder how much of that was damage control in the wake of being caught with another actress’ husband?
In any case, time has passed. It’s the Thursday before a long holiday weekend. Time to announce the divorce!
Katharine will star in a new CBS drama titled, Scorpion. It will premiere this fall.
