When country singer Noah Thompson sang in front of the American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, he chose “Giving You Up” by Kameron Marlowe to sing. He impressed the judges who enthusiastically advanced him to the Hollywood round.

After Noah’s audition aired on Sunday’s American Idol season 20 premiere, Kameron immediately called Noah to congratulate him. Later, Kameron posted their conversation on Instagram.

Kameron Facetimed Noah, recreating a moment he had with Luke Combs

Kameron, who competed on The Voice season 15 in 2018, recognized a full circle moment. After he performed Luke Combs “One Number Away” for his Blind Audition, landing him on Team Blake Shelton, Combs called the young singer to congratulate and encourage him. After Noah’s audition, Kameron decided to pay the favor forward.

“This guy right here is the man, he decided to use my song “Giving you Up” as his audition for season 20 of @americanidol,” Kameron wrote alongside the clip. “When I did The Voice, I performed a @lukecombs song and he FaceTimed me telling me to not stop playing music and to keep driving so I felt that it was only appropriate to pay it forward and FaceTime Noah!” Kameron added. “go give my man @noahthompsonmusic a follow and be cheering him on this season, congrats buddy.”

And the next comment? It’s Luke Combs posting “Hell yeah man. Classy move.” It’s a full circle moment on steroids!

On the call, Kameron joked the he called 7 times and nobody picked up. Noah, who was still celebrating with friends and family, let it go to message because he didn’t know who was calling. “Congratulation,” Kameron said. “That’s frickin’ awesome.” Noah’s friend Arthur, who had urged him to audition in the first place, sat in on the call. “Your buddy Arthur here is a good manager, it seems,” Kameron aaid. “I like it already. Y’all going to be killing it soon.”

Kameron left the Voice and eventually signed a major label deal

A member of Team Blake initially, Kameron lost his Knockout to Dave Fenley. Adam Levine stole the singer, but he left the competition at the Playoffs and did not make the live shows.

Afterward, the North Carolina native moved to Nashville to pursue a songwriting career. He independently released “Giving You Up” and followed it with “Take You Up On It” in October. After “Giving You Up” amassed millions of streams, Sony Music signed him to publishing and recording deals.
