Guess who’s back! Dr. Pepper’s Lil Sweet, as portrayed hilariously by American Idol season 1 runner-up, Justin Guarini! The new ad for the soft drink maker’s diet brand, was released this week.
The 30 second spot features, “a tiny pink-clad glam rocker that uses a whole lot of falsetto to congratulate a dad on building a playhouse for his daughter. The dad invites him to watch a football game, but he has to catch a ride with the family’s cat.”
The daughter runs away screaming when Lil Sweet emerges from the little pink house, to offer dad a diet Dr. Pepper. “You built this big old house with that tiny tool…” sings Lil Sweet, falsetto used for EMPHASIS.
The tiny magenta haired singer turns down dad’s offer to watch the big game, however. He’s got things to do, places to go! As Lil rides off in a pink toy caddie chauffeured by a sunglass wearing kitty, a confused dad asks, “Is that our cat?” Good stuff.
