Good news for American Idol season 6 winner Jordin Sparks she has been cast in her first television pilot. The production is Kevin Williamson’s (Dawson’s Creek, The Vampire Diaries, Scream) time-traveling series Time after Time for ABC.

According to Deadline, Time After Time will chronicle the epic adventures of young H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma). Upon arriving in modern New York, he is captivated by museum curator Jane Walker (Genesis Rodriguez). The story is based on the 1979 novel by Karl Alexander and movie.

Jordin will play New York stylist Jesse Givens who is also Jane Walker’s roommate and good friend. Williamson wrote Time After Time and is executive producing. Marcos Siega is directing for Warner Bros. studios.

The singer has guest starred on CSI and Zoe Ever After as well as starring in the movie Sparkle. There was also that awful end times movie, Left Behind: The Movie, which Deadline doesn’t even mention.

Jordin’s role will be recurring, which means she’ll likely be playing a secondary character and will be available for other acting roles. If the series is picked up, she’ll also have time to pursue her music career.
